Directing

Reimagining familiar works. Creating new theatrical experiences.

My work as a director brings together a love of music, theatre and storytelling, with a particular interest in finding fresh perspectives on established repertoire.

With a background as an operatic tenor, I bring the insight of a performer to my directing, combining an understanding of the music and its demands with a strong interest in characterisation, theatrical invention and visual storytelling.

Comfortable working within the traditions of opera and operetta, I am equally interested in challenging expectations and exploring new ways to present familiar works. I enjoy reinterpreting established pieces, finding contemporary relevance in their stories and creating productions that connect with audiences in unexpected ways.

For me, good directing is about more than simply putting a work on stage. It is about discovering what makes it relevant, bringing its characters to life and creating a compelling theatrical experience without losing sight of the music that lies at its heart.

Creative Approach

I am particularly drawn to the possibilities that emerge when familiar works are approached from a different perspective. Whether through reinterpretation, adaptation or a fresh theatrical concept, I enjoy exploring how established repertoire can speak to new audiences.

My aim is always to create productions that are imaginative, engaging and theatrically satisfying, combining respect for the musical material with the freedom to explore new ideas.
